A champagne purple/lavender motif. Most unusual indeed!

The FP781 comes with a handsome champagne purple color motif. This effectively sets it apart from the silver white or gray colors, typical of other LCD monitors. With smooth, curvy lines and a rounded bezel, you can’t help feeling relaxed when looking at it. It should fit well into any bedroom or trendy office.

The monitor stand though made of plastic is reinforced with a metal plate below.

The plastic BenQ plate at the base can be removed.

The logo "BenQ" is proudly embossed on the lavender colored monitor bass stand, inset with a silver chrome plastic plate (removable).

The round plastic plate is the mechanism that aids in swivelling.

The FP781 does not allow one to pivot it from landscape to portrait mode. However, it allows for tilting and swiveling.

The buttons offers quick and immediate access to common functions.

What is notable about the FP781 is the soft-touch buttons on the front bezel. They are silver coated and they offer immediate access to several common functions. These include the "I-Key" button, which auto-calibrates the unit for an optimum picture. Items like contrast and brightness, and volume controls are adjustable from three separate buttons. They also double as directional buttons for the OSD (on screen display). Of course, there is the ubiquitous power button. Beside that is an LED that glows green or orange to indicate active or standby respectively.

The lack of space prevents speakers from producing a full spectrum of frequencies.

The microphone is integrated into the front chassis.

In terms of audio capabilities, there are two tiny speakers and microphone integrated into the unit. As space is limited, they will not be able to match the performance of separate dedicated audio equipment. However, it should suffice for basic monitoring or non-critical tasks like personal teleconferencing or a spot of Internet gaming.

You can plug in your favorite headphones here.

Connect your audio devices here please.

We can also see three mini-stereo plugs (A Line-In and a Mic-Out to an external soundcard as well as a headphone jack on the left side of the unit). The Mic-Out connector sends audio signals captured from the built-in microphone in the FP781.
