Message Composing And Calling
Composing SMS text messages with the SGH-E630 is simple with the use of the standard T9 dictionary. The dictionary also has a good stash of memory set aside for learning new words which was previously not possible in the dictionary of past Samsung models. Up to a total of 12 concatenated messages can be sent out at one go, thereby allowing uninterrupted messages when the situation arises. There are four standard text modes – dictionary, ABC mode (non-dictionary), numeric and symbolic.
A quirk of the message composer though is that the dictionary mode is always the default entry mode. Even after setting the input mode to manual input mode, the composer would still revert back to the factory default dictionary mode. This is also true for the memos and notes function and could prove to be an annoyance for certain users.
The phone isn't capable of sending to multiple recipients but it does store sent messages in the Outbox which is another common feature of Samsung phones. Creating MMS messages with the phone is very straightforward and should be something all will appreciate.

Samsung phones have always been known to have good volume and call quality. For the SGH-E630, this is certainly no exception. The volume of the earpiece is loud, crisp and clear. There are the standard hands free speaker and voice clarity options. When using the speaker option, there is hardly any change in call quality. Reception and volume are just as good when using the phone in normal mode. The voice clarity feature is particularly useful in noisy places as it enhances the voice of the other party while cleaning up bits and pieces of background noise at the same time for that extra clarity. Then there's the Mute feature, useful especially when you need to get off the conversation for a brief moment while ensuring absolute privacy at the same time.
Packed with a loud 64-chord polyphony ringer, typical of Samsung mobile phones, ring tones were so audible that that missing incoming calls would be almost impossible. The same can be said for the SGH-E630’s vibration alert as well.
The phone makes the most of its 800mAh Li-ion battery and is said to have a talk time of over six hours and a standby time of 240 hours. In our field tests, a fully charged battery lasted a good two to three days on moderately heavy usage. This included about 20 to 25 minutes of calls, at least 20 text messages and the occasional use of the camera and voice recorder functions. If you are curious about charge time, a completely depleted battery can be fully charged within two and a half hours. As for memory capacity, the unit has an internal memory of 20MB and a phonebook capacity of up to 1,000 contacts.
